TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
The focus of my teaching will always be centered around the fact that every student is unique. Every moment in their lives that have led them up to this very second has shaped and influenced them in a plethora of ways and as such I must always be prepared to teach them in as many ways. It is my goal to be a reflective educator who always remembers that if a student can, they will. It is my responsibility to help students understand, respect, and appreciate diversity and it is the role of the school, the teacher, and the student to be as welcoming as possible. I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to provide students with:
An optimal learning environment that promotes critical thinking and respect.
The knowledge they will need to be successful in whatever path they choose.
Every opportunity for personal growth and well-being.
A love for learning via a growth mindset.
The ability to be creative and innovative collaboratively.
The skills they will need to be able to communicate effectively.
The importance of being a strong and empathetic global citizen.
The knowledge that they are capable of learning whatever they set their mind to.

TYLER CHRISTIANSEN
About me
It has been an interesting 4 years back at MHC after my 'year' off. That year off just happened to take me 18 years to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Since first starting my education degree at MHC in 2001 I have moved to Lethbridge, to China, back to Medicine Hat, to Red Deer, to Whistler, to Vancouver, to Calgary, and now back to the Hat.
In that time I have married my best friend, had 2 beautiful kids, run my own company, and have had the opportunity to travel a little to: China, Australia, The Bahamas, Mexico, and the United States.
I'm excited for this new chapter in my family's life and I am very excited to see what the future in Medicine Hat holds.
