Lesson Planning

I have yet to decide if having to teach from the Scope and Sequence is a blessing or not in the class. On one had it really ties the teacher down to what is and is not going to be taught. On the other hand it, for me anyways, I found it took some of the anxiety off of having to make sure all the outcomes were being targeted. I only focused on the ones that I was told to do from the Scope and Sequence.

Having this positive aspect of the S&S in mind it has allowed me to plan a wide variety of instructional strategies into my lessons. I'm not sure if I would have included the things I did if I was trying to plan an all encompassing lesson. I have planned your basic in front of the class lesson, student research type lesson, hands on type lessons, centers, and teaching Phys. Ed. This one has never been in my focus before, but am actually enjoying it.

I have tried to utilize all the tools at my disposal too. Hands on activities, pen and paper, whiteboards, building things, board games, computer games, Google Classroom, and games of my own creation.

I like how my practicum teacher has allowed me to explore to see what works and what does not and to run head first into some of these tasks. Some things have worked very well while others have not. On reflection it is easy to see why these things worked or did not and I have wrote some down for safe keeping and scratched others out of the list.

I think I am applying a good comprehensive list of strategies to try and meet my students where they are at.
