Lesson Planning

If this practicum has taught me anything it is the importance of being organized while lesson planning. With being in a school with shorter bell times and a busy schedule I will have planned and implemented over 200 lessons since January. All of these lesson would be completely aligned with the Alberta Program of Studies.

My goal for this practicum as well as my research topic for our Capstone class has been focused on the importance of a well balanced and varied instructional practice. I have made sure to leverage as many different tools as I could think of to see what was engaging and what works best. I have found that by keeping things new the students seem more engaged. I have used technology, pencil and paper, textbooks, worksheets, being outside, and research off the internet.

My students are constantly reminding me of the need of being flexible. Their diverse needs have been a source of constant reflection for me. I have tried to plan my lessons around what my students are telling me and have, on multiple occasions, included them in the lesson planning process.
